A Boy And His Dream...Perhaps??

This shot was taken last year in New Westminster from the top of a hill overlooking the back of a church. It was the first day of The World Cup. This boy was dressed in what appeared to be his church-going clothes, playing soccer in the yard while the rest of the church goers were inside singing hymns. He is looking at the doorway.  Perhaps he got bored or kicked out of church. Either way, I liked what I saw.

Another Broken Angel

Brook and I had a great photo day today. It's rare, but sometimes a day comes around where our eyes are sharp, our creativity flows, and the photography gods (and angels) are looking over us. While wandering quietly around some alleyways we noticed some steam coming out of a wall vent that intrigued us. The wall it was attached to had some fabulous colour on it so we starting snapping shots. The owner of this steam and wall came out the door and started chatting us up. Noticing we had cameras, he asked many photography questions, testing our knowledge it seemed. He then invited us into his 'office' to check out what he does. To our shock and amazement, it was a massive photography studio complete with the biggest lighting set up I have ever seen, a printer the size of an SUV and some really amazing photo work. I nearly peed my pants! There were no markings or signs that told us this "Photographer's Garden Of Eden" was behind that wall. Steven LeMay was his name. Thank God Brook knew so much more than I did and proved our worthiness of seeing his work and chatting him up. I was a bit concerned that our time was up on our parking meter, but it was worth every cent (if we got a parking ticket...which we didn't). We tore ourselves away after about a half hour of visiting with him saying "WTF just happened there?!" and "What are the odds?" and "Holy *$&!*" smacking each other in the shoulder. Thank you Steven LeMay for the exhilirating conversation!  The photography (Angels) were looking down on us today.
This angel perhaps?

Red

Just some colour. I am not particularly fond of this photograph but I appreciate the color and shape and texture of it.

Merlin In The Dark...Seems Magical

Last night our power went out for about 4 hours. What better time to pull out the camera and take some shots by candle light. Merlin, our kitten, has never seen candles so was naturally curious about them. He didn't touch them, but got a bit too close to one and curled his whiskers a bit. Poor fella. Here is a shot of him mesmerized by the flickering flame. This was a fun way to pass the time. I will show you more in the future.

Would You Like A Taste?

Interesting textures alway grab me when I have my camera with me. This was taken in the Granville Island Public Market in the summertime. It's a plate with raspberry balsamic vinegar and oil ready to taste with bread. I liked the colors and the fact that you can see the reflection of the skylight way up high, in the oil.

Jana and Gabrielle

I had the joy of spending the afternoon with a dear friend and her sweet baby girl last Wednesday. We had lost contact some in the past 5 years. It happens when people take different paths. But ours lead back to each other again. I'm very glad of that. I hope we stay on the same path so I can watch young Gabrielle grow up with her brother Thomas and all her step brothers and sisters. Thanks Jana for the open arms...again!

Content and happy mama.

Fuzzy Dice

I was playing with some wider angles here. I like the distortion here.

'66 Mustangs Of 2010

This is the beginning of the '66 Mustangs Of 2010 series. A long time family friend has been working on his blue '66 Mustang for many years (the nearest car to the right) and along the way had made friends who were craftfully rebuilding their own '66 Mustangs. I had the pleasure and honor of photographing their beauties at Deas Park last Summer. It was a beautiful evening, and lots of fun! I will show 2 at a time over the next few days. Tell me what you think!

Autumn Colours

Autums is one of my favourite seasons to take photos because of the rich colours it brings. I'm going to post a few more leafy autumn shots in the next few days. Stay tuned!

First Christmas Photo 2010

This was the first photo I took Christmas 2010. It was hanging from our light fixture over the dining room table. The colors turned out nicely I think for an underexposed shot. I did bring some sharpness in using Lightroom 3 and Vignetted it slightly.
